Gloss

Before, there was no easy way for hair colorists to digitally save client info. Most relied on messy paper notecards, which can be lost or stolen and lack photos.

Until, we launched “Gloss” — the simple app to save hair color formulas, photos, and client details.

My girlfriend (a cultural anthropologist) and I bootstrapped the app out of our studio apartment in NYC with one other team member. She noticed a gap in the market and came up with the idea while previously working in a high-end hair salon.

I created the name, brand, UX design, strategy, subscription model, and a capital-efficient marketing plan based on audience targeting through Instagram and Apple Search Ads.

Now, Gloss is profitable and used by thousands of paid subscribers all around the world.
